Student of the month Ben Clausen with Antioch Pizza certificate in front of ACHS

Antioch Community High School

Antioch's student of the month is none other than senior Ben Clausen, who gets epic bragging rights (not that he would ever brag!) as well as a free pizza from our friends at Antioch Pizza. Take a look at what some of Ben's teachers had to say about him:

Ben is a terrific student! He's very driven to do the best he can in everything he does, be it academics or athletics, and he's a polite, well-mannered guy to boot! He's an absolute pleasure to have in class.

-Audrey Nagel-Schoonmaker

I don't really know Ben, but he's in NEHS, and he volunteered to escort Storytellers presenters from the Green Room to their workshop space. I told all the NEHS kids what their jobs were, and I never once had to remind any of them, Ben included! He showed up every day on time, and he got our presenters to their workshops without incident. You know how many moving parts there are for Storytellers, so to be able to count on someone like Ben to do that job is amazing!

I have Ben in PE class.

He consistently works hard in PE, brings great energy to class, and is a pleasure to have as a student. His positive attitude and ability to get along with peers make him a great role model.

I have had the privilege to coach Ben during his time at Antioch. There are not enough great things to say about him and his impact on teammates. Ben is arguably the smartest guy in most rooms he walks into, but his infectious personality is what separates him. He is light-hearted, easygoing, and always mindful of those around him. Ben makes others feel relaxed and safe in his presence. His teammates regularly joke around with him because his cool and calm demeanor allows for it. I can think of only a select few times in which I was around him when he wasn't smiling; his positive energy and vibes bring out the best in others. He is very well-deserving of Student of the Month because I know his efforts inside the classroom are always top-notch. He is the definition of an outstanding student!

-Frank Fracek

It was so much fun to have Ben in True Crime last semester! He always asked great questions, has a great sense of humor, and is generally a great human all-around!

-Lindsay Edwardson

I only know Ben because of our trip to Costa Rica and Panama. However, I quickly learned that Ben is an awesome kid! He's helpful, positive, and supportive of his peers. When we were stuck in the Miami airport, Ben's attitude was totally positive despite the situation. Now, he always says hello to me in the hallways or chats with me if we run into each other in the building. He's a delight!

-Sarah Ogborn

Ben is an absolutely wonderful student and human being. I haven't had Ben in class since his freshman year, but he and I still talk every day. As a student, he was always respectful, engaged, and such a hard worker! He was always willing to answer questions and participate in class discussions. He is such a POSITIVE kid. Even when he doesn't want to do something he always has a good attitude towards getting it done.
