Facing strong competition from 13 other teams, the LCHS Girls Track and Field team won the IHSA Sectional Championship at Richmond Burton High School last night. The following athletes will be competing next week in Charleston, Illinois at Eastern Illinois University for the state championship:
- 4x800: Madison Twarling, Bri Gara, Madison Perez, Becca Runyan (1st at Sectionals)-Alternates: Hannah Rojas, Aine Boyd, Paige-Elicia Caruth, Diksha Guganathan
- 3200: Paige-Elicia Caruth (1st at Sectionals)
- 100H: Joycelyn Crum (2nd at Sectionals)
- 800: Becca Runyan (2nd at Sectionals), Madison Perez (3rd at Sectionals)
- 4x200: Shelby Stall, Makayla Williams, Joycelyn Crum, Diksha Guganathan (1st at Sectionals and set a new school record with 1:45.43). Alternates: Becca Runyan, Inclarity Turney, Leanna Zalapi, Riley Beerbower
- 1600: Madison Twarling (2nd at Sectionals)
- 200: Makayla Williams (2nd at Sectionals)
- 4x400: Shelby Stall, Becca Runyan, Diksha Guganathan, Madison Perez (1st at Sectionals). Alternates: Inclarity Turney, Kali Frazier, Madison Twarling, Makayla Williams
- Pole Vault: Joycelyn Crum (1st at Sectionals), Josie Gates (2nd at Sectionals)
- Triple Jump: Jillian Ellenwood (4th at Sectionals)
