D117 Families, Students, Staff & Community Members,
This is the April edition of a monthly update wherein you will receive timely reminders and links for upcoming events in Community High School District #117. We promise to keep this to a 5 minute read (or less!)!
Board Members Honored, New Board Members Welcomed!
At our regular Board of Education Meeting last night, we honored outgoing Board Members Ellen Ipsen and Ron Vickers for their years of public service to our district. Their tremendous commitment to the success of our students has improved the student experience at ACHS and LCHS.
We also organized our new Board by swearing in Sandy Jacobs who returns to continue her service to our district, along with new Board Members Linda Carroll and Sue Dickson. These three Board Members will serve four year terms that will expire in April of 2027.
If you see Ms. Carroll or Ms. Dickson in the community, please congratulate them and thank them for their commitment to public service!

New Strategic Plan Coming Soon!
We have completed 3 of our 4 strategic plan coalition meetings with a large group of more than 90 students, staff, current parents/guardians, alumni, and community members who do not currently have students in our schools, along with representatives from community businesses, organizations, and higher education.
Thank YOU if you were one of the many community members who took their time to log in and contribute your ideas to our online community feedback tool via crowdicity. The grass roots commentary we received has been a central point of data for the strategic planning large group as they have done their work.
We are proud to report that the coalition is on track to be ready to bring the new strategic plan, including a first ever District 117 Portrait of a Graduate, to the Board for approval later this spring! Stay Tuned!
